about the “i am peace maker” initiative iampeacemaker, June 24, 2023September 3, 2023 This is an effort to grow peaceful respect between Canadian colonists and Indigenous people and families in Canada. Planting seeds of light and hope and support toward peaceful cooperation and co-existence. We want to encourage all peoples to demonstrate sincere love and humility toward Canada’s Indigenous peoples who were insidiously persecuted in times past. These people are still facing the huge challenge of recovering their identities ever since many stories, connections, and mentorships were lost with the loss of their families and the loss of many elders. Canadians enjoy free lives to celebrate who they are and where they came from, they should be fiercely proud of their Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Much has been accomplished by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada and other initiatives, however, much work still needs to be done to support the healing of trauma, support for Indigenous families, and the normalization of ongoing addictions support and mental health treatment, and more understanding and culturally inclusive supports to help Indigenous youth gain parenting skills instead of just taking custody of their children. Peace Makers should be considerate of the independence of neighboring families and help others, respectfully, when it is wanted or warranted. It takes an openness to accept and respect differences between individuals and their beliefs, differences in parenting styles, sometimes agree to disagree, and still maintain neighborly acceptance of one another, peacefully. The family unit is a sacred thing, as are community supports. More patience, kindness, and respect need to be implemented on all sides. ~ Light ~ If you wouldn’t follow yourself, why would anyone else follow you? Be the example you need. “Peace Maker” is my Indigenous Spirit name, my other Spirit name is Elainia, which means, “Land of Light”. I am a Canadian, a friend of God, an empathic woman with a timeless soul, driven to create more peaceful lives for those I meet through patience and understanding. It feels really good to say, “I AM Peace Making”. I encourage you to claim that. Positive affirmations are good for the soul. Then together we have the faith to move mountains!
