When Addictions Get Unmanageable iampeacemaker, July 29, 2023August 9, 2023 HOPE = Hold On Pain Ends. Be patient with yourself and those you love, forgive yourself and those who hurt you. You are worthy of healing and self-respect. Not a single human on this world is perfect, mistakes are inevitable. Slips are inevitable. If you fall off the wagon, seek self-forgiveness. I AM is forgiving. You are I AM, within your soul and throughout eternity. The 12 steps simply work. They’ve helped millions of people out of addictions. Many people shy away because of a lack of faith in a higher power, but I’m not the only testimony. Through Jehovah’s assistance, I’ve quit marijuana, cigarettes, crack cocaine, and alcohol. I still vape but I kept that as a choice, he offered to heal me of that too. Luckily I have ears to hear, but his Holy Spirit works through our hearts if we have pure intentions. The belief that there is a higher power with the power to heal, if you seek help with honesty, admitting that your addiction has the better of your ability, humility will become your strength, and God will guide you into sobriety. Have faith in God, in yourself, and in his forgiveness that he gave by sending Yeshua to the cross to die for sinners so we could approach him ourselves. For this to work you need to seek forgiveness and start your life new, not just forgiveness from God but forgiveness from others you have hurt. The 12 steps are serious to be respected. How do we gain his strength to succeed? It is God who, for his own generous purpose, gives you the intention and the will to act. Philippians 2:13 Seek his strength, and in good faith KEEP SEEKING his neverending wellspring of forgiveness, mercy, hope, and love. Seek to let him do his will through you. Wholeheartedly give him your weakness. He’ll replace your weakness with strength of purpose, as long as you keep humbling yourself and realizing that in your heart is HIS strength, not your own. 1. We admitted we were powerless over addiction — that our lives had become unmanageable. 2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. 3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him. 4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. 5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs. 6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character. 7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings. 8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all. 9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. 10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it. 11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out. 12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, we tried to carry this message to other addicts, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
